Learning Forward Texas (LFTX) is excited to announce that applications are now open for our Board of Directors (BOD). This is a wonderful opportunity for dedicated members to play an integral role in shaping the future of professional learning in Texas. Applications will be accepted from November 18 through December 20, 2024. We encourage all eligible members to consider applying and contributing their skills, knowledge, and passion to our mission.
To qualify as a candidate, applicants must be active Learning Forward (national) and Learning Forward Texas members. Additionally, candidates must commit to a three-year consecutive term and meet all outlined qualifications, which include familiarity with the Standards for Professional Learning and a willingness to advocate for LFTX’s strategic goals at local, state, and national levels. Full details regarding qualifications, expectations, and the application process are available on the acceptance form.
Board members play a pivotal role in advancing LFTX’s mission. Responsibilities include attending three in-person and three virtual meetings annually, supporting the annual conference, and participating in additional learning events. Members promote regional affiliate growth, recruit new members, and actively market LFTX through professional networks and social media. Supervisor or organizational support is important to ensure candidates can fulfill these commitments.
Applicants are required to submit several items, including a signed acceptance form, a cover letter outlining their reasons for applying, an updated resume, and a reference letter. The cover letter should highlight the applicant's enthusiasm for the role and the unique contributions they bring to the Board. Those selected will be notified by February 2025 and will begin their terms shortly thereafter.
Learning Forward Texas is proud to uphold a strong tradition of leadership and collaboration. By joining the Board of Directors, you will be at the forefront of influencing professional learning across Texas. We look forward to receiving applications from passionate and qualified members eager to make an impact.
